Yong Ho-sung, the First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST), visited the Tokyo Game Show and played The First Berserker: Khazan while showing support for domestic game companies.
On September 27, Vice Minister Yong visited the Tokyo Game Show 2024, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. During his visit, he stopped by the NEXON booth, greeted Neople CEO Yoon Myung-jin, and personally tried out the new game The First Berserker: Khazan.

Vice Minister Yong sat at the demo station, listening to a staff member’s explanation while playing The First Berserker: Khazan using a gamepad.
After playing, he shared his thoughts: “I wasn't very familiar with the game. This title is developed with an existing IP as its foundation. I hope to see more games inspired by webtoons or web novels that attract billions of views worldwide. If those IPs are integrated with advanced game development technologies, I believe they could result in highly valuable games.”

Regarding the status of Korean game companies at the Tokyo Game Show, Vice Minister Yong commented, “Aside from NEXON, it seems not many major Korean game companies are participating. Since this market is largely focused on console games, it feels like it’s not quite the right stage for us to showcase our innovative spirit. However, as a step toward entering the existing market, it holds significant value.”
He added, “If domestic game shows grow into platforms where we can present innovative, new paradigms that go beyond tradition, I believe we could surpass the Tokyo Game Show within the next few years.”
Vice Minister Yong also visited the Korea Pavilion, hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), where he met with small and medium-sized Korean game developers, listened to explanations about their games, and tried some out himself.
