T1 was ousted by Hanwha Life Esports, failing to advance to the “2024 LCK Summer” finals. Although they managed a comeback in the second set, they ultimately could not overcome Hanwha Life’s solid teamwork, eventually losing with a score of 1:3.
On September 7th, the “2024 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Summer” finals qualifier between Hanwha Life and T1 took place at the Gyeongju Indoor Gymnasium in Gyeongsangbuk-do, organized by Riot Games. The teams faced off once again, following their last encounter in the second round of the playoffs, in a match that drew significant attention from fans to this new battle in Gyeongju.
The match unfolded with Hanwha Life taking the lead, while T1 attempted counterattacks. Despite their best efforts to break through Hanwha Life's robust lineup, T1 eventually conceded the match, ending their LCK Summer campaign.
Below is a summary of the Q&A session with T1’s Faker Lee Sang-hyeok and Coach Kim Jeong-gyun, held after the “2024 LCK Summer” finals qualifier.
Q: Can you share your thoughts on today’s match?
Coach Kim Jeong-gyun: It's disappointing that the results did not reflect our preparations and hard work.
Faker: I wanted to end the Summer season with a good result, but unfortunately, it didn't go well. That’s disappointing.
Q: What are your thoughts on the upcoming Worlds Qualifier?
Coach Kim Jeong-gyun: There’s a bit of time left before the qualifier, so we’ll work to improve our performance and show a better side of ourselves.
Faker: I believe there is still a chance, so I will work hard to seize the remaining opportunities.
Q: How did you prepare for the match, and what do you regret?
Coach Kim Jeong-gyun: Just because we prepared thoroughly doesn't mean that everything went according to plan. We lost because the opposition outperformed us. Whether it’s down to the setup or the fights, we need to reevaluate and think all of these things through.
Faker: The match didn't go as we had prepared, which made it challenging. I promise we’ll give a better performance in the next game.
Q: The loss with mid Caitlyn must sting, doesn’t it?
Coach Kim Jeong-gyun: I don’t think the victory or defeat hinged solely on one champion pick. It’s a team game, and we failed to capitalize on good timing, which allowed our opponents to take advantage.
Q: Do you have a message for the fans?
Faker: Many fans came out, and next time, I will make sure to please you by delivering good gameplay.
Coach Kim Jeong-gyun: Thank you for the support from our fans. We will make sure to bring you more smiles in the qualifier.
