SMILEGATE's MMORPG “LORD NINE” continues its efforts to sustain a long-term service and success.
Since its official launch on July 12, “LORD NINE” has maintained a top-tier revenue position through July and remains in the TOP 10 revenue rankings in August, continuing to receive a positive response from users.
According to Sensor Tower, within just 40 days of its release, the game’s global downloads surpassed 450,000, and its revenue exceeded 30 million dollars. It is also known to have achieved the highest revenue among the new MMORPGs released this year. The revenue figures likely represent a combination of mobile and PC platforms, which suggests even greater success when both are considered.
To continue this momentum, the developer NX3 GAMES and SMILEGATE are focusing more on adding new content as well as balancing the existing content.
As “LORD NINE” is a game that offers players enjoyment through strategic play involving various setups of mastery, abilities, and equipment, plans are underway to improve these aspects to ensure that the game remains enjoyable. For instance, issues like underused or overbalanced features, with criticisms received from close-range weapon users, and others are slated for resolution.
First, the balance of close-range mastery is being adjusted. The skill range for close-range weapons will be increased, starting from the shortest range of long-range weapons (crossbow 7m), with some skills expanding from 1.4 m to 3 m. Other measures are also being considered to give close-range weapon users more breathing room.
In addition, adjustments are being made to the distribution and placement of aggressive monsters in certain areas, to regulate the difficulty of the hunting zones. Also, boss patterns disadvantageous to close-range weapons are being adjusted to ensure that close-range dealers can effectively fulfill their roles in boss fights.
Next, the balance of passive effects is being addressed. Some high-level passive skills of certain weapons have had problematic activation conditions or were hard to perceive once acquired. These conditions are being relaxed and adjusted, in order to be more perceptible when they are used.
Thirdly, the balance of barehanded mastery is under review. Although designed to offer advantages through various skill setups and party play, the process of granting merits has revealed excessive sustainability issues that other masteries could not achieve. Thus, while reducing the sustainability slightly, the aggressive aspects will be enhanced and the usability of other skills besides specific ones will be increased.
Improvements are also being made regarding monsters. Adjustments in the monster placement and defensive stats are being made according to the type—close-range, long-range, magic, etc.—so as to favor specific damage types. Additionally, the placement of aggressive monsters in certain areas has been adjusted to lower the difficulty, and the tracking distance of some monsters with longer pursuit ranges has been shortened. These updates were implemented on the 28th of last month.
Meanwhile, the update conducted on the 28th has introduced crafting recipes. These allow for additional appraisal opportunities for high-value hero-legendary grade equipment, if the desired appraisal options are not obtained initially. When a certain enhancement stage is reached, items can be exchanged for unappraised ones. The crafting costs are 20 million or 80 million gold for weapon recipes, and 10 million or 40 million gold for armor recipes.
