On August 24th, NEXON held a developer conference for “Dungeon & Fighter,” where Park Jong-min, the General Director, appeared in person to clarify the company's stance on the recent public discontent with “Dunpa.” Over 12,000 adventurers joined the broadcast, indicating a high level of interest.
Director Park Jong-min acknowledged that the engraving content, which has been problematic, was flawed and announced the company’s plans to improve the Extreme difficulty entry ticket to ensure smoother access. The God of Mist raid will also be drastically improved for its cost-effectiveness relative to time; as players get stronger, their clear times will decrease. Additionally, the convenience of clearing each phase will be enhanced, and the rewards will be upgraded on September 5th.
In the broadcast, current issues raised by users were discussed and a new direction for “Dunpa” was presented.
The new season, called Gravity Falls, will be updated in January 2025, earlier than scheduled. Initially set for the second half of 2025, the timeline has been adjusted: the Venus Legion will be updated in the first quarter of 2025, Artificial God raid in the second quarter, and the Dileggie raid in the latter half of 2025.
Before Gravity Falls, the equipment growth system will be removed on September 5th, and equipment option levels will be eliminated. Consequently, the celestial equipment level will be uniformly adjusted to a maximum of 60.
According to Director Park Jong-min, although there has been a significant influx of new players this season, less than 10% remain active. Many players have expressed their disappointment with the current season, citing unreachable growth and customization.
With the removal of the equipment growth system, the use of gold will also change, leading to adjustments in the amount of gold obtained from certain dungeons. However, untouchable equipment will still retain a degree of prestige in Gravity Falls, with a chance to exchange it for the valuable currency obtained there.
Players who have already completed Level 60 by August 29th will receive a second awakening skill cutscene and a God of Mist honorary title as a reward. These rewards will be offered as limited editions, and will not be available again. Additionally, male characters will receive a Lopez cape avatar, while female characters will receive an Asrahan: Veil of Nothingness avatar. A belt orb that appears in Gravity Falls will also be provided.
The Artificial God raid will be implemented differently from the existing God of Mist raid, featuring a structure, resources, and a story centered on the apostles from Terra. This marks a significant starting point for the future content centered around apostles. The appearance of Dileggie in the Awakened Forest is part of this buildup.
Efforts are being focused on reducing the damage disparity among different characters. An emergency patch is planned for next week for Kunoichi, which is currently the weakest in terms of damage. Additionally, AI is being used to perform numerous variable calculations beyond human testing capabilities, to expedite the balance adjustments.
To reduce the API dependency, the new season of Gravity Falls will feature an intuitive equipment system, and a wealth of in-game information will be made accessible. The API site will shift from being essential, to merely optional and for reference.
Moreover, to enhance skill selection freedom, solutions for pay-to-win leveling issues are being tackled, enabling changes such as non-exchangeable titles, non-exchangeable weapon avatars, and skill level modifications, all available for free. A system for flexible skill changes, which will eliminate talismans, runes, and TP systems, is planned for the first half of next year.
On October 17th, a dot renewal for the Female Fighter will be implemented, and new avatar concepts are being prepared in order to appeal to users.
Finally, a brief roadmap from September 2025 to January 2026 was introduced during the broadcast: in September, the equipment growth system will be removed and improvements to the God of Mist raid will be made; while in October, the hard mode for the God of Mist raid and the Female Fighter dot renewal and a Gravity Falls briefing will take place.
Following this, the Dunpa Festival in November will reveal detailed information not covered in the previous briefing. In December, a Winter Festival featuring the Snow Mage will be available. Finally, the eagerly anticipated update for Gravity Falls is scheduled for January 2025.
