The development status of the zombie extraction action game “NAKWON: LAST PARADISE” (hereinafter referred to as “NAKWON”), which is being developed by NEXON, has been revealed.
First, the development team's goal is to complete the alpha version by the end of this year, with entering the alpha phase as their first task after surpassing the pre-alpha stage.
Unusually, “NAKWON” has had its pre-alpha test showcased much earlier in its development period compared to typical games, which usually debut externally about 2-3 years after the development process begins. Just 11 months into its development, the first test of “NAKWON” was conducted, and the team has asked for understanding as subsequent testing phases may be extended.
Currently, the development period of “NAKWON” has passed one and a half years. Although there is still much work to be done, the development team is focused on safely developing the prepared content rather than rushing. They are committed to quickly creating the necessary components and presenting them in a good form to users.
Moreover, whereas the pre-alpha test mainly stayed within the area of urban exploration, the alpha and beta tests will focus on the life and growth of survivors in the refuge called NAKWON.
An environmental test video of the alpha version was also released. The approximately 6-minute video features various daytime scenes, differing from previous development updates.
In particular, the video captures a wider urban environment, showing various routes of movement beyond previously closed spaces. During daytime, it is also possible to observe fine details such as the lighting and the positioning of shadows according to the direction of light.
The video mainly features the character exploring the city and farming various items, and it is still without zombie generation or the placement of items and objects.
Actions such as the throwing of bottles to distract zombies with noise and using signboards as shields while holding a weapon in the other hand have also partially been revealed.
The current video is the in-development alpha version, and it has been noted that the combat motions are still being improved, the UI is not yet finalized, and that frame drops may occur due to a lack of optimization.
The development team has expressed their plans to share more about the growth elements of characters, including the styles, temperaments, levels, traits, and skills, and has asked players to keep expressing their keen interest.
